An Uncomplicated Plane
The Low Angle Jack Plane can handle any type of wood while remaining an uncomplicated tool. Its minimalist design allows for easy disassembly for maintenance and quick reassembly for use. The adjustment knobs are accessible and provide a smooth action. You can adjust the blade’s depth of cut by simply turning the depth and lateral adjustment wheel, and sliding the wheel side to side skews the blade left or right. Spend more time planing and less time adjusting!
Bevel-Up Blade at 12 Degrees
The blade is set bevel-up in the milled plane bed at 12 degrees, giving you a cool low angle of attack. Choose from a range of blade angles to suit your specific tasks. The blades secure tightly onto the plane casting, ensuring that the cutting edge has maximum support, no matter the terrain. You can easily and quickly swap out blades when it’s time to change gear. Watch your productivity grow with this versatile hand tool!
Features
Adjustable Mouth
The plane’s mouth is fully adjustable. Twist the front handle to release the toe, then use the mouth adjustment lever to set the opening width for your specific task. Close the mouth tightly to minimize tear-out when working with difficult, figured materials. Open it wide when working with more predictable woods to make fast, clog-free shavings.
Easy and Precise Depth and Lateral Blade Adjustment
The MTC Low Angle Jack Plane features an easy-to-adjust, precise depth and lateral blade adjustment system. Simply twist the knurled knob to set the depth of cut, and slide it side to side to skew the blade within the plane mouth. The entire assembly disassembles easily for regular maintenance, making it simple to care for and set up your hand tools—because MTC believes that woodworking should be easy and stress-free.
M2 High Speed Steel Blades
MTC has selected M2 High Speed Steel (HSS) for its blades, known for its high abrasion resistance. This means it holds a sharp edge significantly longer than many other steels. While it may take a bit longer to sharpen initially, you’ll find yourself leaving your sharpening gear on the shelf for much longer. Additionally, MTC plane blades are thicker than average, which eliminates vibration during cutting, ensuring a smooth, uniform finish.
